About Scooby

  • Housetrained: No

Hi, my name is Scooby.  I'm 4 years old and I'm a Golden/Lab mix.  I weigh about 75 pounds -- probably could stand to trim up just a bit.  I lived on a farm most of my life and I really loved the freedom of being able to hang out on the property; however, I always wanted to be inside with my owners and share their life.  They didn't think dogs belonged in a house so I had to sleep in a dog house (I was NOT chained).  Sometimes in the winter I shared my dog house with the farm cat. When my owners inherited a mama dog and her 8 puppies, they moved me to their daughter's house and I had to stay in a kennel with little chance to run.  I didn't like that very much.  Haven to Home promised to find me a great home where I could live inside with my "forever family" and still have a chance for lots of exercise outdoors.  The nice folks at H2H brought me home and gave me a good bath--boy did that feel good.  My coat was sunburned and dirty from living outside, but they say I am very handsome now and soon my coat will be a gorgeous soft red gold. My temporary foster mom said I was a love bug who just loved to cuddle while she watched TV at night. I couldn't stay with her for long, because she had too many dogs and no time to work on my training.

I now live in a kennel at my new foster Mom's because her house is very small--but she takes me out of my kennel to potty (I'm trying not to potty there) and to train and exercise me.  In the past two weeks I have learned so much; I know commands like "heel, sit, stay, down, come".  My foster Mom says I am very smart boy who is just the best.  She says someone will be very lucky to have a dog like me.  I am walking nicely on a leash. I don't chase cars, or bikes--I get along well with other dogs (love to play with her pugs). I love everyone I meet, and I glue myself to her side like I am velcro.  I love to be hugged and get belly rubs. Oh, and when her daughter is home, I go running with her--that's so cool. No one every paid this much attention to me and I'm in 7th Heaven!

Please consider me.  Especially if you can offer me a place to play outdoors, an indoor home, lots of hugs and belly rubs and a FOREVER home.  I promise to be your loyal and loving companion.
