White German Shepherd (medium coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Senior : : Large
For the first time in her life, Lucy has gotten to experience love and family. Until recently she has spent her life on a chain with people who did not take care of her at all. The people finally decided it was too much work for them to walk out to where she was chained and feed her so they tied her to someone's porch with a can of dog food and a note saying "will you take care of me, my family doesn't want the burden of feeding me". Her collar was so tight it had to be cut off of her, she was filthy, matted and seriously needed to stretch her legs and walk further than her 6' chain would allow.
Despite having lived like this her entire life, Lucy has nothing but love to give to everyone. Her first day of freedom was an awesome adventure for her. She met several new people, got to go for several car rides, sniffed all over a park, met some new dogs at a distance and got to run very short distances with a little girl. She had the biggest shepherd smile on her face that you could imagine. Lucy has now been bathed, groomed, fully vetted and is in a foster home where she is doing excellent and loving life. She does have hip displasia for which she is taking Glucosamine and Chrondoitin supplements and needs to continue to exercise and strengthen her hind end muscles. Lucy is now ready for her forever home where she can be the loyal companion she was meant to be.
