There has been a lot of interest in Amos, but the right home hasn't come along yet. Please carefully read his description and be sure your home is a fit for his needs before you complete the application.

Do you like to go for long runs? Or how about long hikes? Do you have a sled that needs pulling? If so, Amos is the dog for you!

Amos is a 2 year old Alaskan Malamute who is one BIG puppy at 110 pounds.  Amos is a smart, athletic dog, with lots of drive and playfulness. He would certainly be a good candidate for dog sports or activities such as agility, weight pull, or obedience.  He loves to play pull, but hold on---this boy is strong! He needs a home with no cats, as his prey drive is very intense.

Amos is wonderful with other dogs. He would like another canine companion that also enjoys the Nordic breed play style. His fosters report he has never met a human he doesn’t like. When meeting new people, he will bounce and talk until proper introductions have been made and then he quickly calms down. He appears to be good with children, but given his size, caution should be used with small, energetic children. He could definitely knock a small child over. Amos is house-trained and knows several commands. He loves people and is very much a social butterfly. Amos loves car rides and is well behaved in the car. Amos would not be appropriate in a crate as he has escaped. His foster has an outdoor kennel that he and his foster siblings are in when the family is away.

Amos has a history of escaping and taking off to roam the neighborhood. Therefore, potential adopters must have a secure yard with at least a 6 foot fence.

Amos has significant separation anxiety. He will need to be in a home with other dogs. He has done significant damage when left in a home without supervision. So, as noted above, an outdoor, secure kennel is the most appropriate place for Amos when left alone for any amount of time.

Amos is neutered, fully vetted, and microchipped. So get your application submitted for this big hunk of love today!
