About Ozzy Buddy

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 18-0183
  • General Color: Black with White
  • Current Age: 7 Years 5 Months (best estimate)
I am EASY, GENTLE, and CALM

Ozzy is a very laid back, 14-month old male mixed-breed of who-knows-what?!  He might be a shepherd mix or a retriever mix of some sort.  He is weighing in at 50 lbs., currently but he's a bit underweight and should probably max out at about 60. He is an extremely gentle, patient, and sweet-natured dog.

We are looking for someone who wants a laid-back companion.  He would enjoy walking, biking, or just curling up and watching movies - he's very adaptable.  Ozzy is not a huge fan of crating or confinement and will bark when initially crated, but does quiet down after a bit.  He is slowly learning how to be calm and accept confinement.  When he's not confined, Ozzy is not destructive and is housebroken as well, so leaving this dog loose can be an option.  He prefers to be where his people are, and is a patient and quiet companion.  If you are a person who can take your dog to work with you, Ozzy would be great at that, curling up quietly beside his foster family while they are busy.

Ozzy has been good with all the other dogs he's met and can be playful at times as well.  Ozzy will chase cats.  Not sure if he'd actually hurt them - he hasn't, and does not appear to have a mean bone in his body - but he will chase what runs.  He is responsive when told to stop.  He watches them quietly through a gate, and doesn't get overly excited about them unless they are running in the room where he is.

Ozzy had been moved around and switched hands quite a bit in his life, so he needs some stability, consistency & training.  Although Ozzy is responsive to some cues, his obedience could be improved.  Ozzy isn't a huge fan of riding in the car, although he very quiet and well-behaved in the car, but he won't get in on his own yet.   His fosters have had to pick him up and put him in, and he doesn't fight that, he just needs work on learning that car rides aren't always bad.  He does fine with grooming and nail trims, and is pretty good on a leash.

Ozzy is an easy dog to have around.  He's gentle, friendly and calm and would do well with a variety of families - from (respectful/supervised) children to senior citizens - as well as other dogs.  Please consider adding Ozzy as your family's canine companion!
