Ginger was found as a stray. She was initially held in a kennel where she liked to play with the other dogs and also enjoyed a good game of fetch. She is a mix mixed breed (guessing boxer/beagle) who weighs 30 pounds and is around 2 years old.
Her foster reports that she is doing well and is a great dog who is very well behaved. Ginger doesn’t like to be crated, but it appears she is such a good girl that she probably doesn’t need to be crated anyway. She is smart and easy to train and is house trained.
3/1/14---Foster update: Ginger is a sweetheart. Knows sit, wait, drop/release, stay, working on shake. Travels very well in car. She has adapted well to a cat, and small dog household. She is willing to please and learns fast. Ginger loves to cuddle. She is not dominant nor protective of food, bones or toys. All in all a lovely, well behaved little girl. BUT she does not like crates!
4/13/2014 - Update: Ginger is such a great dog. She is still learning new things. She waits to eat until her foster says, "Okay or Take It" -- she waits patiently (on leash) to exit the house until her handler tells her it's okay to pass through the door. It is very clear that Ginger will do best in a home with another friendly playful dog. She wants to play so badly - but the small dog in her home just snips at her if she tries to play. Ginger also becomes anxious (although NOT destructive) when left alone - therefore, another well behaved canine pal will make her very happy and probably reduce the level of anxiety when her "human" is not present. Ginger also loves children and has responded very appropriately in the company of children.
4/26/2014 - Update: Ginger's foster took her to a local dog park because she craves the company of other dogs. She had a wonderful time running and playing with the dogs in attendance. She would love to have a friendly, playful, canine companion.
Ginger is a young dog with moderate energy. She will make the right person or family the very best canine companion.
Applications are the first step in the adoption process. Please do not call or email simply to express interest. We are all volunteers and receiving your application saves us time and helps to determine the best match for both people and dogs.
We provide as much information as we currently have on each dog in their description. For questions on the adoption process, including fees, please review the Adoption page. If you have additional questions or are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application. Once we receive your application someone will be in touch to answer your questions.
We do not arrange visits to meet dogs without an application. If you'd like to meet a variety of dogs without filling out an application please attend one of our events, listed under the events link.
Thank you!
