Gizmo is a 3 year old Chihuahua who is a fit little bundle at 17 pounds. He came to us un-neutered and with marks from a too-tight harness on his back. He was relinquished because he snipped when his original owner tried to remove the harness. Gizmo has been neutered and had vaccines updated since he came into our care. Even though he was frightened at the vet and his foster mom was still new to him at that time, he allowed her to pick him up without any grumbles, loved cuddling into her while they waited, and was very glad to see her when she picked him up. He even allowed removal of a bandage on his leg and was a good boy for her. He’s been in his foster home for a couple months now and has come a long way from the fearful little guy who growled, hid from newcomers, and distrusted everyone. He is very affectionate with his foster mom, still leery of new people, but he loves playing with the many canine friends with whom he lives. While the grandchildren that visit him at his foster home are dog savvy and respectful of Gizmo’s space and he does enjoy attention from them, he would probably do best in a home with older or no children simply due to his trust issues His foster mom says that while they have a mutual love affair going on, Gizmo deserves a forever family of his own, one that is understanding and willing to earn his trust. He wouldn’t mind a little canine buddy or two either. Last night when Gizmo and I settled in bed to read, he jumped on the bed, leaned over and licked my nose. Then he climbed up and lay down on me with his face toward mine. He is such a sweet, good boy he just keeps it too much of a secret. I keep telling him he has to show everyone. Lisa
Update from a visitor from h2h: I am now a believer. Gizmo can be a wonderful little companion. When I visited Gizmo's foster mom I typically ignored the little guy knowing he was very slow to warm to new folks. I didn't want to scare or startle him. Last evening while I was sitting on Kim's couch covered in various breeds and sizes of dogs, I found myself petting this cute little Chihuahua. I suddenly realized it was GIZMO. Yes GIZMO! He wanted in on the attention and loving. The remainder of the evening he lay by my side--enjoying petting and patting. Please call for more information on little Gizmo. He deserves his very OWN forever home.
