Cattle Dog / Mixed : : Male : : Adult : : Large
Rinny is a cattle dog mix who was found near a farm in our area and no one seemed to be looking for him. He hung around outside for a couple weeks and the family gradually earned his trust and called us for help. We took him to the vet, had him neutered, updated on vaccines, and tested/treated for parasites (standard procedure for all our dogs). He is estimated to be around 8 years old and weighs 47 pounds.
He is at our holding kennel where he is settling in to the routine. Initially he was a little sad, but his tail wags more often now, he is becoming more playful, and he’s always ready to go for a walk about. He is even ready to go back inside our building. He seems to want to chase rabbits and squirrels, but he was OK with the outdoor cats at the finder's farm. He did escape from the kennel once and spent the evening out on the town, so he is a little bit of a flight risk and it may take him a bit to become a stick around dog (or he may always need a fenced yard or to be leashed or monitored outdoors). Rinny is a sweet dog, a little shy at first, but once he becomes comfortable he is a loyal (on your heels) companion. He is slowly stealing the hearts of all the kennel volunteers with his politeness and good manners. Here is what some of them had to say about Rinny: "He is a sweet dog, takes time to get to know you. He is also pretty good on the leash. He likes to play with it at the beginning of the walk. Definitely laidback." "Rinny is a super sweet boy and think he will make a very loyal friend for someone." "Very, Very, Very soft!!!!! "He's such a sweet, gentle lad. Think all he's looking for is LOVE......" "He's so polite and has very good manners." IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ Click here for the ADOPTION APPLICATION if you are interested in adopting this pet.
