Ducky Dear Haven to Home, So much has happened since you rescued me! Mom and Dad call me "Charlie" now. I like it and I even have a shiny new nametag for my new collar! My first night I was sad and scared but since then, I have settled into my furever home very nicely. I have a brother and a sister and a Mom and Dad who love me very much. I was a little afraid of Dad at first but he is so patient and kind that I'm starting to come around. I can't get enough of my Mom and follow her wherever she goes. My favorite is when she sits on the couch to watch TV and I can crawl right up on her lap and lay my head on her chest and fall asleep. She pets me all the time! I have a big yard and can run and play as much as I want. I think this summer my brother and I will be able to catch a couple of the chipmunks I see running around, maybe even a rabbit! Right now I mostly like to sniff the new smells and roll in the grass. Mom and Dad take me for a walk or two every day around the neighborhood. Lots of neighbors come to see me and kids love to pet me (probably because I'm so cute!). Mom has lots of good food and homemade treats for me. Sometimes I forget that I need to go outside to use the bathroom. Mom and Dad are patient with me though. They know I'm still a puppy and still learning. When I do remember to go outside, I get lots of kisses and "good boy"s! I know I'll get the hang of it real soon! I know I am loved and safe and I'm learning that I'll never have to worry or be scared or be hungry ever again. Thank you for rescuing me! Love and kisses, Charlie (aka Ducky)
Daphne Hi Roe; I suppose you think about all the dogs you place and sometimes wonder how they're getting on. Daphne's been with us for 4 months now, and it's like she's been here forever. She is at the office with me 4 out of 5 business days most weeks - any time I don't have to be on the road. She's quiet, and rarely barks, but does like to fish out of the trash cans and go to the shop at lunchtime and breaks to mooch food from the guys. She's the defacto shop dog. In the office, she lays around on the prints and keeps them from blowing away. Daphne had gotten quite wooly in the past couple of months, so last week I took her to Petsmart and got her trimmed. Now she's all groomed up, like she was when we picked her up from you. May be all the treats and begging in the shop are taking a toll on her girlish figure, but she's good and healthy. She still actively dislikes other dogs - especially little ones - so we have to be careful about that when we're out. But with kids, she's great. I typically drive home, park the car, and walk her over to school to pick Tara up, so she gets lots of attention from 3rd graders. She gets lots of attention on the street too- she's a very good looking dog. Aside from all the walks, she seems to like being indoors more than out, and likes to bound up and down the hallways and shake her toys to death. Most of the time, when we give her treats, she flings them up in the air and bats them down the hall and rolls around on them before eating them - I guess it's all part of the 'kill'. She likes to wrestle with me, and grabs my forearm and pulls me around. Fortunately, she'll stop if I put my hands up and surrender. She's decided to sleep in our room at night - which makes Tara happy, because Daphne kind of likes to eat her stuffed animals. She's not really too destructive, but she does get rammy at times. In a nutshell, a real winner! I hope this finds you well, and that your upcoming adoption event is a big success. Brian
Dharma The Riley's are absolutely thrilled to have Dharma as one of their "kids" and can't wait to show her off. Their friends were calling while I was there and Joanne's 90 yr. old mother is extremely excited. She will be visiting this weekend along with their niece. Dharma made herself at home almost immediately, checking out the house, then planting herself in front of the window with the best view. She did get up to trot out to the kitchen every time Joanne went and eventually won herself a biscuit. Dave and Joanne invited us (I took Rosie) to lunch and we accepted gratefully. Dave feeds Lily and Roggie 2 slices of fat free Deli Select turkey at lunchtime and Dharma very much enjoyed sharing. He may have to increase to 3 slices! Dave, Dharma, Rosie and I took a walk around the pond after lunch and Rosie got to go wading and chased a bird while Dharma pulled Dave from place to place so she could check everything out. She was standing at the gate with the rest of the family when we left probably wondering why she wasn't going along, but I left without a tear in my eye. She couldn't be in a better place, she will have many years of the good life with them.
Duke G Dear Haven to Home,
Deana Sharon and Mike Marino here...we adopted Deana back in the summer. Just wanted to say hello and let you know that things are going well. Deana has adjusted to our home and loves to hang out with us when we go hiking or to our sporting events. We love her! We attached a few picks to keep you updated. Thanks again for all of your help with the adoption process!! Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
