Princeton

Hi there!

He is doing very well! We took him to meet Becky and her pups and kitties and he did great! The cats loved him and he was just as entertained with them. He's not shy, he walked right into our house and seemed like he's lived here forever. He slept under the blankets with us last night and has claimed the second bedroom as his own. We bought him a rawhide bone to see how he would do with it and he hid it in "his" bedroom and checks on it to make sure it's still there. He sits on top of our couch and looks out the window and grumbles when someone walks by so he's our little guard dog. He's made a few friends already on our walks around the park, one in particular that he got along with was Toby who is an Alaskan malamute and weighs probably close to 70 lbs. They were rolling around on the ground with each other and having a great time. We are going to try and get him used to a different name because Steve doesn't really care for Princeton, so we've decided to try and get him adjusted to Harley. He seems to be adjusting to us both equally and is eating up all the attention he's getting. We bought him a chew toy last night and this morning all the stuffing was out of it and the squeaker was laying next to the toy haha! So we bought him a tennis ball since that can take a beating. I am going to include some pictures and a video clip of him for you guys so you can see just how well he's doing. Let me know if you can view the video clip. We're planning on introducing him to my aunt and her two shih tzu's sometime this week. We'll let you know how that goes and hopefully can get some pictures of them playing! Thank you so much for the opportunity to adopt such a great dog, he really is a wonderful companion dog.

Maxine

We adopted Maxi (Maxine) the end of May 2012 after our 15 1/2 year old dog passed away. We have an Alaskan Malamute named Candi (pictured) who was missing her old buddy something terrible. We decided to rescue a new buddy for her. Maxi and Candi are the best of friends and do everything together. This picture is how you will find them most times when they are resting. We recently fenced in our yard so the two could play together safely. Maxi adjusted very well to our home and we couldn’t be happier!

Gracie Mae

Gracie is doing great! She has fit right in from day 1. No real behaviors or accidents. She is developing a routine with us. She loves to go for walks. She is really attached to Chad. She gets really sad when either of us leave and that's hard for me. It's so sad. I think it will get better after she sees that we always return. I love her so much already. Thank you for this opportunity. Carrie

Happy new home!

Bailey

Greetings!

First, I would like to thank you for helping Bailey (n/k/a “Stanley Patrick Tyler”) send me the very nice Haven to Home Thank You card!

Stanley is doing great.  It’s almost like he was Made to Order and then gift wrapped just for me.  He is an absolute angel and I love him to pieces.  He is so patient and understanding with my senior beagle, Bud, who, Lord willing, will celebrate his 18th birthday on October 1.  Stanley is just perfect – he listens well; he doesn’t bark unless provoked by the neighborhood Rottweiler, Abe, whose clumsy demeanor sets him off for some reason; he has not had one accident since he arrived a month ago today; he sleeps right up against me and constantly gives me kisses; he doesn’t chew on anything but his toys; he doesn’t get upset when it storms; and he doesn’t need crated while I’m at work!  I could not have asked for a more well-behaved and lovable dog – he’s the light of my life!  And, he seems equally happy with his new life and Mom – he follows me everywhere and sometimes I catch him just staring at me.  As I melt, I can’t help but wonder what he’s thinking…

Stanley was introduced to his vacation home in Ocean City, MD for the first time this past weekend!  He sat safely secured in his brand new car seat (see attached pics), looking out the window for a while, then taking a break to nap – and once there, he adjusted to his new surroundings right away.  Stanley loved playing in his new home with his new best friend, Roz (my friend Dawn’s pocket beagle).  Dawn and I walked them both up to the beach early Saturday morning (poor Bud had to stay behind and rest in the condo).  Roz had been there many times before, but Stanley wasn’t quite sure what to think of the huge sand box, and did not like getting his feet wet when the waves unexpectedly came up on us – but he took it in stride and continued on his way, sniffing all the neat smells and digging in the sand.  I can’t wait to take him again when I go back down in early November.

I will continue to send updates from time to time.   Thanks again for all you do at H2H to find wonderful dogs like Stanley their forever home.

Sincerely,

Marnette
