Nash

Hello good people of Haven to Home!

Just wanted to give an update of Ben. He has made a huge difference in our home; all for the better! Ben is our hero. About a month ago, my husband fell while mowing grass and hit his head hard enough to lose his vision. Ben was sitting on the porch watching and when Craig did not get up, Ben OPENED the gate, ran to Craig and literally dragged him back through the gate to the porch. Ben then ran in through the doggie door to get me. He insisted I go with him by barking and mouthing my arm. I followed him and found Craig unconcious on the porch. To make a long story short, all ended well. Ben saved his Dad.

Ben just came home from a week of camping. We knew before going that he loved water because he has a kiddie pool at home that he played in daily. We never had a dog that swam before and we were amazed when he jumped right into the swimming hole and started swimming. He LOVES swimming. Especially when someone swims with him. He actually was able to get my older dog Sally to go swimming with him, which in all her 9 years has never gone deeper than her ankles in the swimming hole. Upon coming home, the kiddie pool no longer excites him, so his Dad has jokingly stated "time to put that inground pool in!"

At the end of April, our family lost our eldest dog, Sly. He was 13 years old and had a wonderful life. It was my children's first true experience with a loss of someone they were so close to. My Sally slipped into a depression and we were worried that we may lose her as well. Ben helped all of us to be able to adjust to a life without Sly. At first Sally, resisted his attempts at affection but he won her over again. He now has her playing again!

Ben is a very intelligent boy. He learns new things very quickly. He even helps gather wood while camping and picking peas from the garden. He LOVES fresh veggies.

Ben was neutered on June 4 of this year. He weighed in at 62lbs at his post op checkup. He has been micro chipped and has a life time license. We had his dew claws removed due to him causing injury to everyone he came in contact with by those razors. (we all have Benny marks)

We would like if Haven to Home would keep the $50 neuter deposit as a donation from Benny to others that are in foster homes like he was. He has made our lives so much better and we want to help so that another dog has the same chance he had.

With much appreciation,

Amy Rhoads, Benny and Family

Star

Star, AKA Twinkle Star, AKA Twinkie is an H2H "graduate" who was spotted at The Bark for Life at Milton's Brown Ave Park. Twinkie is a Certified Therapy Dog and put her skills to work on this fun day at the park.

Lucinda

Mazuno was adopted last year. Her name was "Lucinda", one of the "L" puppies. She's grown into a real beauty with a silky black coat. She enjoys spending time with with the college students where her "mom" works and really enjoys the softball tournaments where she gets LOTS of EXTRA attention. She also enjoys long car rides to visit her "grandparents". They love her so much, they didn't want to share her anymore, so they welcomed a rescued puppy to there home. 'Zuna was happy to welcome the new addition.

Bear Hugs

Hello,
I have received your email about Bear, and yes we kept his name, Bear fits him so well. =]
We are doing great! He is such a great dog, and very smart. We do everything together, in fact I just took him to Halifax with me the other day to walk part of the Appalachian trail, and he had the time of his life. He loves to go for walks (which I try and take him everyday) and he has been doing really good with walking with me. He is my new best friend and I know when my last dog Kayden passed I never thought I would get through it but Bear has helped me out so much, and has gotten me through that hard time. Bear is such a wonderful dog around kids and other people as well, I was just walking him the other day and a big group of kids ran up to him and hugged him and he just sat down and let them pet him. He is such a beautiful dog as well I always get comments when we are out and about of how he is such a nice looking dog. I'm hoping I can take him in the pet parade this summer with Otis our mastiff, I know he would love the attention. Like I said he is just such a good dog and I am so glad he has come into my life, he will always be by my side. I love him to the moon and back, thanks so much!

Murphy

Hi Haven   to Home,

I just wanted to give you a quick update.  I am loving my new   home.  My mom is just the best and the kids love to play ball with me in   the yard.  I am trying my best to be a good boy but I have real problems   when they leave me here alone.  My mom sometimes takes me to doggie day   care just so I won't rip the curtains off the windows.  I love playing   with my friends at doggie day care!  I am really trying hard to stop   ripping things up when they leave me but I just cant seem to help   myself.

I have lots of toys here and so many bones that I am not sure which one I   should chew on first.  The yard is great and I get to play ball every   day!!!!  Much better than living out of garbage cans.  (even though   I do my best to get into the garbage at least once a day!)

I wanted to thank you for finding me a good home!  Without you I   would still be on the run and who knows where I would have ended up.  I   am starting to gain some weight and love to get baths....splashing that water   all over the bathroom is just about as much fun as you can have in one   day!

Mom says she might bring me to one of your adopt a thons so that I can   say hello....I am hoping that I get to see all of you some day soon so I can   give kisses and hugs to all of you who saved me!

Have a wonderful Mothers Day!

Thanks Again!

MURPHY
