Sadie

1/10/10: Sadie still loves her long winter naps! She was one of the first dogs Haven to Home placed and they did real good placing her in our lives!

Eve

1/16/11: Gemini is doing very well!!

First things first. We renamed her Gemini--her face reminded us of a yin & yang... and it's such a fitting name! Most of the time we call her Gem or Gemma.

She's learning to sit, lay down, come, and roll over. She sits very well but the other commands still need some practice! We keep her in the crate at night and while someone is at work. "Crate" is one command she knows very well, running back the hall to her crate with her legs sliding out from under her! Her housetraining is coming along just fine--she has bad days primarily when we are busy and distracted, clearly our fault and not hers!! "Potty" is another command she knows well, running to the door with our other two dogs.

At first she was a little wild child. Again, this is normal for a puppy! But we much prefer that she is settling down and settling in. Now that she's calming down my little Boy, Tyson, will cuddle with her (see attached!). My husband and I do need to consistently discipline. Our challenges right now are counter-surfing, chewing on the cat (who instigates!), and picking fights with my little girl Chihuahua, Miss Olivia. The latter was a big concern early on but we are seeing a TON of progress between the two of them with consistent time-outs. We don't even tolerate showing teeth. I've also had to avoid any triggers (chew bones) and keep them apart during feeding. I'm fairly certain we'll be okay with that but if we see a resurgence I will call the behaviorist.

We took her to the vet last week for more boosters and he said he was impressed at how well-behaved she was and how well-cared for she is. We are scheduling her spaying for March or April.

Additionally we are working diligently to socialize her. She went to the groomer last weekend and guests to our home are ALWAYS welcome to bring their dogs.

At night she's a perfect little cuddle bug, looking for any human or animal she can lay down with. She's an awesome girl and we are looking forward to the future with her!

If you have any questions, feel free to call. She's been great!

Baron Von Bear

1/12/10: Just a quick update......Bear is doing great! He has adjusted well to being a house dog. Housetraining is going well. We are working on a few additional commands like down and stay. Not free to mingle with other animals yet, but we're doing supervised time off leash with other animals and so far so good. There's just no hurry to have them all loose together, no reason to risk any injuries. He is really a doll. I have researched harnesses, and am getting a weight pulling harness for him. He will be pulling mulch around in the wagon this spring. I think he'll like the challenge. He's doing great on the leash for walks, a real gentleman now. He gets too excited when playing and gets real pushy, forgets himself and manners, so we will continue to work on that. But overall, he has been a real blessing to our lives. Attached is pic of him making himself at home. Thanks for giving us such a wonderful companion!! I will continue to update you in the future if you don't mind.
Happy New Year!

Bosco

On Dec.18, 2010, it was 2 years that we adopted Bosco and he seems very happy. Bosco enjoys his morning walks with Ken and playing ball in the afternoon. He has a huge yard to play and a family who loves him.

Kanga

My mom adopted Penny a few months ago. She is so happy to be in a home. She loves her new sweaters for the winter. This one wasn't quite her favorite, but it looks so cute LOL
