Red Heeler / Mixed : : Male : : Young : : Medium
Remington is a sweet red heeler mix with curious energy. He is an overgrown puppy at just over 1 year of age and he loves to explore. He learns quickly and picked up basic commands fast. He is very treat-motivated (i.e. “Will work for food!”) He loves the dog park and does well with the other dogs there. He is housetrained and loves car rides. At a recent adoption event, he was the best behaved dog in the crowd. He hasn’t had a lot of experience around children, but did well with a well-behaved, dog-savvy 5 year old at the park. He wasn’t quite sure what to think of some younger rambunctious children though. He is a herding breed and they tend to herd children, so adoption by a family with kids would also require some knowledge of the breed. When he came to us, he was very excited over kitties, but in his new foster home he is learning to respect them and co-habitate peacefully (see the picture of him and the cat waiting for their breakfast to be served). He is an intelligent dog and needs a home that will exercise his mind and body. He would love a home with someone who bikes, hikes, runs, horseback rides, and wants the perfect travel companion. Interested in getting in to agility? Remington could be the perfect to give it a try with you. Remmie and his friend Henry (a cattle dog/rottie mix) have both spent a lot of time in the kennel where our volunteers visit and walk them 4 times each day, for quite a while. They have both lived in a home environment where they did well even though the older resident dogs were not amused by their puppy antics. Both are great dogs who deserve a chance at a forever home. They love to romp and play together. Remmie keeps everyone entertained with his water play antics, enjoying the kiddie pool and dunking his head and feet in his water bucket.
