Herbie is a shih-tzu who weighs 10 pounds. He was found as a stray, scratching on a door looking for help. He was in a very dangerous area of town and was covered in mats, urine, and feces. Herbie is, almost certainly, completely blind, but gets around very well, even doing steps in his foster home. He is a very happy and lovable little guy! Herbie has a surgical appointment for this Friday. He will be neutered and have his eyes examined. Enucleation will be performed on his one eye (the removal of the eye that leaves the eye muscles and remaining orbital contents intact). After an examination, it’s possible the other eye may have to be removed as well.
We are asking for help to cover the cost and would like to raise $550.00. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated!
(Herbie will be available for adoption after he recovers from his surgery. While he is very confident in his ability to find his way about, he should probably not go to a home with small children. He will be an awesome companion for someone who is looking for a lovable lapdog!)

We do not arrange visits to meet dogs without an application. If you'd like to meet a variety of dogs without filling out an application please attend one of our events, listed under the events link.
