Babe

2/10/11: Dear Haven to Home,
I am so glad to have found Lexy! She is a wonderful companion and has truly made my apartment feel like home to me. It took her a little while to become comfortable here, but now she loves sitting on my window seat to watch for squirrels outside. She also loves going on our daily walks down to the park. Of course her favorite activity is to have her belly scrached, which I do a lot! She is a sweet, wonderful dog and I'm so happy to have found her.
Sincerely,
Amanda

Babe Bea

Feb 2011: From the minute we arrived home Babe Bea has adapted well. Her relationship with her dog pal, Chloe, began with a rocky start but they are now getting along well. We have renamed Babe Bea to Bee as she flies around - like a bee. She was never off a chain or lead before but is now running one plus acres of invisible fence without a breach. She is very intelligent and training to the fence took about two weeks. She is a great watch dog - her keen hearing and subsequent barking alert us to visitors, etc. She greets people with a bark but no other aggression. Our son Bob loves having a younger dog to play fetch with, chase around, etc. We are glad to be her forever family and she is helping ease the sadness of the loss of our dog, Trey. God Bless you all for all that you do and many thanks from Bee.

Gunner J
Gunner J

Gunner moved in 5 ½ months ago and he’s just what was needed!  He’s a spunky little fella and loves to walk and play with his toys.  Although he’s quite a barker, he’s not shy about meeting other dogs and people, and is quite friendly once he assesses the situation!  We’ve been able to schedule some play dates with friends’ dogs (that are much bigger – two labs, a standard poodle, and a weimeraner) and Gunner gives them a run for their money!  We’re working on his, and our, training – basic commands and walking on a leash.  Gunner is a jewel!

Hank
Hank

Just want to do a Hank update!  Tom is SO SMITTEN with this dog!!!!!  You know, Hank is the SMARTEST dog Tom has even seen!!!!  LOL
He does seem to be house trained as of yesterday - there were no accidents at all!   He scratches at the door to go out, and they also watch carefully for the signs of sniffing around.....you know those signs.  Getting him on a schedule is also working well.

He's getting VERY comfortable in his forever home.  He's doing well with sleeping in his crate at night, but seems to prefer curling up wherever Tom is for naps.  We were over there late yesterday afternoon and Hank had just finished a big play streak!!  Tom said he raced around with his toys, so he slept while we were there.  He also LOVES Scrappy the Cat.  Scrap is very patient with Hank too, but if Hank gets too rough, Scrap lets him know.  I think they will end up good friends, if Scrap can  hang in there through the puppy period!!!!  LOL

Tom's keeping the name "Hank" as it suits him!!!!  He does already sit when you tell him......because when we went in yesterday, he greeted us and I said sit and HE DID!!!!!  I was surprised.  He did seem calm at the Adopt A Thon, but we knew he would have playful periods and HE DOES so he is a normal pup.  Tom loves to watch him grow more and more comfortable with his home.  He does NOT like to be within eyesight to do his business, so they got the longest retractable leash they could find and now he is able to get into the trees a bit farther from them and he is doing fine with that!!!!!

I just wanted to let you know, this seems to be a perfect match for Tom and for Hank!!!!!   Thanks for recommending them for the adoption!!!
