Levi

Hi Linda - It's been a few weeks and I thought you, along with the others at the shelter might like an update on little Levi. He's getting HUGE! He had his vet appointment last friday and got his second round of shots. He barely cried. When they clipped his nails, that was another story. You would've thought someone sat on him he cried so much. He weighed in at a whopping 24.4lbs! He's gaining almost 1/2 lb a day. The vet said he looked good and didn't see any problems. He mentioned that he thinks Levi might have some shepard in him, which I've been telling my husband since we picked him up. He keeps insisting that he's a pure lab. But now that the vet has the same opinion as me, he agrees. We've been very busy socializing Levi. He had his first puppy kindgergarden class last tuesday and he did very well. He was used as an example for how well he would come when we called his name. Sitting is a breeze but we have to work on laying down. We've found a dog park near by and we take him there several times a week to tire him out. He played for 2 hours last night. We're on the small dog side (up to 30 lbs) but in a few weeks we'll have to take him to the big dog side. He just started sleeping through the night, 10pm-6am. We're ecstatic about that. It was a rough few weeks with him getting up twice a night. We've been taking him swimming at my family's cabin. We can't keep him out of the water. If you turn your back for a second he's down there getting muddy. My parents dogs showed him how to drink out of the toilet, we're not too happy about that. But it was pretty cute the first time he tried it. He's still too short that he had to get his front paws in the toilet to reach. I bought him a plastic baby pool for our back patio since it's been so hot here. He gets his entire body wet. He likes to stick his nose in the water and blow bubbles. I think he likes being dried off even more. I hope everything is well at the shelter and that you're finding homes for all the dogs. I've attached some pictures of Levi for everyone. Thanks again, Lauren

Lacey

Hello, I just wanted to drop a quick note to thank you once again for helping us adopt the best dog in the world! We adopted Daisy (formerly Lacey) through your organization on March 13,2011. She has become such a great part of our family! We take her for walks every evening and sometimes when the weather is nice we will even go to the lake at the local state park for a swim! She has been fantastic with my 2 daughters (age 5 and 7). She plays chase with them, swims with them, and even jumps in the sandbox to make sandcastles with them. She sleeps right next to their beds every night and has become their "other sister". I just wanted to let everyone know how successful the adoption was and what a great service you are providing. If possible I was hoping you could contact the previous owner/foster home to give her an update. Unfortunately I lost her email and would like her to know that Daisy is happy and well loved. Thanks again! Chris

Schatzie

Dear Haven to Home, I would like to Thank You for letting Carmen and Clark Dunn adopt me. I love my new home and my new family. I enjoy playing fetch in my back yard with my big sister, Daisy (Border Collie). Daisy is 13 and doesn't puppy play much but we both enjoy having each others company. I have a girlfriend, Zoey (Yorkie), who lives next door. She is only 6 months old so we puppy play in the back yard all the time. I get so excited when I see her. My parents and I go to the rail trail to socialize when it's not too hot. I am trying to learn not to chase the bikers. I get treats when I don't bark and try to chase them. At first I didn't like men and would bark at them when they came close to me. I've learned over time that they aren't so bad. If it's too hot to walk on the trail, I usually go to my grandparents to visit and socialize. I love going their and getting spoiled with treats. They babysit me if my parents are going to be gone for a while so I don't have to be alone for any length of time. Since I've come to live with my new family, I've learned to walk on a leash, go up and down steps, sit and lay down on command, and learn to play like a puppy. I LOVE TO PLAY. My parents play with me all the time. However, if they are busy, I play by myself in the hallway racing back and forth throwing the ball up and chasing it myself. I ALSO LOVE TO GIVE KISSES. I am constantly giving and receiving kisses from my parents. I love them very much and they love me very much. Mom and I keep each other company during the day. My parents and I usually settle down on the couch around 9pm. While watching TV, they give me belly rubs.. I sleep in my doggie bed during the night. However, when Dad gets up at 6am to go to work, Mom lets me sleep with her in the big bed a little while longer. I LOVE THE BIG BED. I'm always extremely full of kisses in the morning. Mom and I went to Petco on the first day home and got my name tag. I've been to the vet and got a good bill of health and just completed my application for dog tags. Once again, I'd like to thank Haven to Home and especially, Heather Mausteller, for finding me such a loving home. Thank you, JOEY and Family
