Tonka

It's been a few years since we were lucky enough to bring Neeko and Tonka into ours lives. The boys are confident, energetic, wonderful love bugs. They have three sisters now and the newest Willow loves Tonka. Neeko is very smart and sneaky. We have to lock the doors and change the handles since we had spring handles and he would let himself in and out of the house, he is also to climb a fence if not tall enough. He keeps us on our toes and Tonka is such a love, just wants to be in your lap ALL the time. We love them , thank you for rescuing them and taking them in.  Larra and Cesar

Tonka

I’m actually not sure what year I adopted Neeko and Tonka, 2010  maybe. I have always been a husky fan, and pittie fan and my husky at the time was getting older. My mom actually saw these two on your site or petfinder and let me know. It said they needed to go together and that was fine. According to one of your volunteers these two were in a bad situation, about 6 months old , in a crate together, too small, covered in crap, eating their own crap. Bad stuff going on and somehow you guys were able to get them. We rode up and got them and brought them home and they counter surfed for quite awhile lol, still can’t trust Tonka with food on the counter and I call Neeko Sneaky Neeky. Neeko was always wary and kind of scared of strangers at first, took awhile to warm up. Tonka was always goofy, in your face, give me attention. I had a rail trail by my old house so I would take them on runs a lot and they became socialized like normal dogs. Neeko no longer hides on the other side of the room when people come over but looks for attention. So they are probably around 6- 7 years old now. They have been great- Tonka is the shorter hair and is still very onery, into everything, never a dull moment but loves attention and his blue squeaky ball. Neeko is the longer hair one, he is more laid back and loves attention.  We have no kids, just the fur kids and we moved last year to MD to 10 acres and and lots of room to run in the yard- we have a pool but no one is into swimming. Sometimes Tonka puts his feet on the top step or gets in the dog baby pool. They love to empty all the water out of the indoor dog dish though. They are well loved and doing well and have their fur sisters to torture lol. Thanks so much for taking them in and getting them out of that hell they were in ! Larra
